Current Status of Invitation Letters

To obtain a Russian Business Visa Invitation Letter***: Complete the application form (doc, pdf) and return it, together with a scanned copy of your passport (page with photo), to:

The visa letter application takes about 5-6 days, at the end a file number will be issued by Moscow, which has to be included in the actual visa application sent to the respective Embassy. The Embassies will also receive these numbers directly from Moscow so the actual visa application should be smooth.

*** Please, note that there is no actual invitation letter in any form. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends your personal data to the consulate/embassy that you stated in your request. They suggest for our participants to go directly to the consulates/embassies (in person or online) once you get your invitation letter number. Technically, this number is just a confirmation that you can now apply for your visa. You will not even need to provide this number unless there are complications.

If you are applying through your local travel/visa agency and they say invitation letter is mandatory, you can use your formal invitation letter from PICES for that purpose. Once your personal data has already been sent to the embassy/consulate of your choice, this is just a formality.
