Dear colleagues,
Late April/early May is a holidays/vacation season in Mexico. Besides, our symposium coincides with a number of other events in the city that attract a lot of international tourism. As hotels and apartments in La Paz are expected to fill up quickly during this period, we urge you to secure your accommodation well in advance.

Below is the list of hotels recommended by the Local Organizing Committee. There are more hotels in the city and along the road that connects La Paz downtown and the International Conference Center (ICC), and they can be booked online via websites like Booking.com, Expedia, Tripadvisor, and Trivago. A house or apartment can be also booked through the Airbnb platform. There are about 1,000 properties registered under this system in La Paz – so it is a good option if a selected place is within walking distance to the bus route connecting La Paz downtown and the ICC.

NEW TAX FOR HOTEL AND TOURISM SERVICES IN LA PAZ
Dear SPF-2026 participants,
We would like to inform you of a new legal requirement in La Paz, B.C.S, Mexico, regarding the collection of the Environmental Sanitation Tax, effective January 1, 2026.
In compliance with official regulations and with the aim of supporting environmental preservation projects in La Paz municipality, please be advised that starting January 1, 2026, the Environmental Sanitation Tax will be applied at hotel facilities as well others tourism services.
For HOTELS, this tax amount will be $79.20 MXN per room/per night of stay during January 2026 and $81.99 MXN per room/per night, beginning February 1, 2026. The tax amount will be increasing monthly according to the UMA* value. This charge will be in addition to the previously announced rates and will appear as a separate item on your invoices/bills to ensure transparency.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support of this measure, which seeks to promote responsible and sustainable tourism.
The UMA (The Unit of Measurement and Update) is the economic reference in pesos to determine the amount of the payment of obligations and assumptions provided for the federal laws of the states, as well as the legal provisions derive from all the above.
